Leave the World Behind by Rumaan Alam
When a blackout in New York forces Ruth and G.H. back to their country home, it disrupts the vacation of Clay, Amanda and their children. Trust is a fragile thing and the two families must come to terms with each other and what is happening in the world.
I spent most of the time reading this book wishing I was finished already. I felt like I was always waiting for something to happen only for it to never happen. Despite being billed as a thriller, Leave the World Behind has no suspense, no moodiness, nothing that keeps it interesting. The characters are shallow, boring and annoying. The writing is cumbersome and uninteresting.
I cannot even imagine who I would recommend this book to. 1/5 stars.
