Spoiler Alert by Olivia Dade

When super star Marcus Caster-Rupp sees a fan being torn down online, he reaches out to April Whittier to offer support and a date.  What happens next is so much more than just one date.

I was prepared for this book to be so stuffed with tropes and so saccharine that I would have to schedule my next dentist visit early.  Of course there are many sweet moments, but I was pleasantly surprised to find Spoiler Alert to be so much more than the romance it advertises itself to be.

The novel also deals with sensitive topics such as fat shaming, dyslexia, and self-acceptance.  We see our hero and heroine struggle across multiple areas of their lives and not just in this romantic relationship- in fact for the most part, it is their other relationships that are more tenuous their newly developing one!

There is also a healthy amount of nerd-isms: fan-fiction, comic-cons and a leading lady who is involved in a STEM job.  I found these things to be important, endearing and different to what is normally presented in romance novels.  Add in supporting characters who are dastardly and charming by turns, and you've got a winner.

Spoiler Alert will definitely appeal to readers of most modern romance, but I think that readers of Outlander and fanfiction will also adore this book.  A solid 4/5 stars here!
